After picking up a Hair Award for two years running for her salon, Hair Lounge, Charlotte Mensah has now been crowned Afro Hairdresser of the Year for the second consecutive year at HJ’s 30th British Hairdressing Awards.
Recognised for her incredible 70s inspired photographic collection that fused different textures and finishes with a powerful feminine vibe, Charlotte has shown once again why she is one of the most sought-after and visionary stylist in Afro hairdressing today.
Charlotte was overjoyed at the accolade, “Words cannot describe how it feels to win Afro Hairdresser of the Year for the second time. I really pushed the boundaries this year and wanted to celebrate all of the unique textures of Afro hair in my collection. It’s just an awesome feeling; I’m so proud and so happy to be flying the flag for Afro hairdressing. It’s truly wonderful!” She said.
Having worked with some of the most famous names in the industry including Beverley Knight, Janelle Monae, Eve and celebrity chef Lorraine Pascale as well as scooping over 15 hairdressing accolades, Charlotte’s skills have been recognised on a global scale. In 2014 alone, she was hand-picked to style the hair for this year’s Pepsi football commercial in celebration of the World Cup, create spectacular campaign shots for L’Oréal MIZANI’s celebrity ambassador Beverley Knight as well as lend her talents to BBC’s The Voice, where she worked backstage to prepare contestants.
