The inaugural World Afro Day is set to take place on Friday 15th September. Founded by Michelle De Leon, the initiative was created to help educate young children about the beauty and value of natural hair.
To commemorate the special day, the team are hosting an event at the prestigious Church House, Westminster. There will be a discussion with an esteemed panel of guests including Professor Angela Onwuachi-Willig (Berkeley School of Law), Professor Trina Jones (Duke University School of Law), Professor Wendy Greene (Iowa School of Law) and celebrity hairstylist, Vernon Francois. There will also be a talk on careers and a series of hair demos.
The World Afro Day team need your help in spreading the word helping it to become a true global experience. They are asking people to share why they feel World Afro Day is important and to tag other bloggers, friends and loved ones in their posts using the hashtag #ISupportWorldAfroDay so that they can retweet and share it with other World Afro Day followers.
