Waves after waves: How to get the look

Whether you’re rocking a wig, weave, a silk press or relaxed hair it’s undeniable that simple ‘beach waves’ is a look that’s good to have in the hairstyling arsenal.

Celebs have been sporting this style for a long time, both in their downtime and on the red carpet as it’s easy to dress up and down – the perfect versa-style.

We asked Little Mix Jade’s hairstylist Aaron Carlo how best to get the look on pre-straighten hair. For added volume and length Aaron recommends using clip-ins but you can also achieve it with weave or a wig.

1. Clip: First, select the clip-in hair extensions that you want to use and clip these into different sections of the hair starting one inch above the nape of the neck and working your way up and around. I used Hair Rehab London’s Luxe Volume Clip-in extensions.

2. Prep: When your clip-ins are firmly secured in place, you can now prep the hair. I did this by applying TRESemmé Oil Elixir and Beauty-Full Volume Mousse.

3. Style: Once the hair is prepped throughout, using irons (I used ghd), “rick rack” down the hair section by section to create a ripple effect as desired.

4. Finish: Lastly, rake through the hair using a large tooth comb and spray with texturising products.
