The trend for bright, bold colour treatments shows no signs of slowing down in 2018. Recently a study commissioned by by L’Oreal Professional revealed that colour is more popular than ever, a trend that is fuelled by celebrities such as Rihanna and Beyonce as well as social media influencers.
The poll of 3,000 women explored attitudes to their hair, their motivations for colouring it and how hair colour affects how confident and empowered they feel. Nearly 40% said they felt empowered by their hair colour with almost two thirds saying it made them feel more confident.
Brightly coloured hair is on the up with nearly a quarter of women more likely to try a bright or pastel hair colour now than they were a year ago, a trend we’ve seen heartily embraced by the likes of Keyshia Ka’oir, Blac Chyna, and of course, Nicki Minaj. Speaking of celebs, Beyonce and Rihanna lead the pack when it comes to celeb hair colour inspirations, the two were cited as two of the top three famous faces who inspire women to experiment with colour, with Katy Perry topping the chart.
There’s also good news for women who are pondering embracing their greys – the grey hair trend is on the increase, according to the survey. 28 % of respondents said they are embracing or considering silver hair colour, with 37% have already done so.
