This month an exciting and very necessary resource has been launched to help black women connect with suitable skincare professionals. Black Skin Directory is the brainchild of Dija Ayodele, an acclaimed Aesthetician, Beauty Writer and a much-respected Blackhair contributor.
Dija created Black Skin Directory after noticing a void in the the types of skincare services available to women of colour who tend to have very specific and different issues to their European counterparts. After conducting extensive surveys and market research, the idea was born. The aim of the directory is to facilitate easier access to a nationwide network of qualified aesthetic professionals experienced in treating the common skincare complaints we face such as hyperpigmentation and keloid scarring, commonly found in dark skin tones, whilst highlighting suitable aesthetic treatments and products for women of colour.
The platform will also offer tips and education on black skin as well as host events. Black Skin Directory will also provide a great opportunity for skin professionals to tap into a network and promote relevant services to their key demographic.
