Statement lashes have been this years ‘must-have’ for a complete look! It’s an accessory you can wear from the boardroom to the dance floor and an unbeatable upgrade from wearing mascara alone! There are so many to choose from, so we were glad to get the chance to meet the creator behind the brand that our UK Make-Up Artists are loving – Ivyni Lashes!! The brand aims to provide the best quality mink, silk and synthetic eyelashes for every eye and occasion whilst maintaining affordability!
Our Editor @ericafmstyle got a chance to try them out:
Give us a bit of background on yourself:
I am Chenay Johnson and I am 18 years old. Self professed beauty addict & entrepreneur conquering the beauty industry one lash at a time.
Tell us a bit about Ivyni and how and when it came to be?
IVYNI is my everything, IVYNI is the Phoenix from the ashes; the light at the end of the tunnel. IVYNI came to be just after my 18th birthday and launched January 2018. I was at such a low point in my life that I felt I would never rise from. IVYNI is physical proof that dreams come true, the universe works in accordance and hard work pays off!
How would you describe the brand and who is the Ivyni woman/man?
Upcoming, Luxury, Authentic, Timeless & Strong. Our #IVYNIGIRLS/BOYS go the extra step with an evening look and love to accentuate their eyes. Want to treat themselves , want high quality but not a painfully high price. My core customer is 18-25 , both Male and female. They are typically into beauty and watch shows such as Americas next top model, keeping up with the Kardashians and the Real Housewives Of… My customer also watches YouTube tutorials from Influencers such as Jackie Aina, James Charles, Nikkietutorials and Aaliyah J. They shop anywhere from stores like beautybay, prettylittlething & MAC to high-end retailers like Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Harrods.
Do you have any celebrity fans/clients?
We are popular with London makeup artists such as beatbyV and mahinamakeup. We have an upcoming collaboration with the melatwins which will be launching in 2019 Influencers such as Mariam musa and shantania beckford have our lashes and adore them. As far as major celebrities you will be seeing them wearing IVYNI very soon.
Which lashes are popular with your customers?
Throne, Grace, Cynthia, Statement and Flirt.
My personal favourites are Cynthia and Royal. Cynthia is named after my grandmother who sadly passed away but the lash totally embodies her! She was the life of the party, the Cynthia lash is the life of the look! Cynthia is a very popular style also so was my grandmother. Royal is full of drama and I love the more dramatic lashes. Long, thick and fluffy – they’re my favourite eyelash qualities and Royal is just that.
What beauty brands really inspire you at the moment and why?
Pat McGrath really pushes the foundations with her makeup collection. The formulas are exquisite and you can tell she puts a lot of time and effort into the manufacturing and packaging. Nothing is rushed from the quality of the product to the brand aesthetic. It is very clean and universally used. It’s the same with Danessa M , they change the game in terms of innovation. Hands down you can not say that any product of theirs is similar to anything else on the beauty market and that’s how I aspire to be with my beauty brand. Aesthetically pleasing with the highest quality that you can only find with my brand!
Who do you want to see in your lashes?
Rupaul! My makeup is heavily influenced by drag. Make up in general is very influenced by drag. Rupaul is an idol of mine. I am working towards sponsoring Rupauls drag race; that would be my absolute dream. I have a lot of new products up my sleeve and I can’t wait to show the world!
Where do you see Ivyni in 5 years?
Ivyni will have at least two salons open that also runs as a beauty store / academy. I hope to expand the range, which is currently over 40 styles to over 100. I definitely see it being more of a household ‘go-to’ beauty brand too. More collaborations is important i.e. sponsoring major beauty events and shows and to be stocked in retailing stores such as Harrods and Selfridges etc. I am aiming to expand Ivyni products into a full range of cosmetics with other industry changing tools and makeup products. Ivyni will be big!
