Unlike how it’s perceived by many, being single doesn’t imply that there is something that needs to be mended in you. We live in a world where we are constantly pressured to talk about our relationships, and even pursue them actively (if there is something wrong with them). Well, we have nothing against relationships and marriages, but if you’re still reading this, the chances are high that you’re already aware of the benefits offered by bonding and formation of healthy connections. However, it’s important to note, there is a reason why fewer women are getting into relationships and having children these days. We’re not here to preach you about the perks of motherhood or marriage, but to tell you why deciding to stay single is badass and why a good number of women are adopting it as their lifestyle choice.
You’re free to do whatever you want
Yes, that’s right, you can do whatever it is that you want. There is no one that you answer to, but yourself. Feel like going on an impromptu trip to Paris? Go ahead! Want to binge-watch the entire new season of ‘Insecure’, who’s stopping you?! All you need to do is free-up your schedule and then just hit the couch! There’s no one that you are morally bound to.
No one that you must run anything past by. If you wish to work long hours, you’re free to do it. Want to have that shake to enjoy better workouts? Yay, sure! Start your own venture, or multiple ventures? Do it, your destiny is in your own hands! Being single offers unrivalled freedom which anyone in a relationship normally doesn’t have. Being single is all about you, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s actually a beautiful thing!
When you’re single, the days of indecision, miscommunication and bickering become a thing of the past. There is no endless conversation on ‘where shall we eat today?’ There is no one who scrutinises or judges you over difference of opinion. The only person’s expectations you need to deal with is yourself. Needless to say, there is far less drama and stress in single life.
Sex is more adventurous
There is no denying the fact that sex normally ranks very high on a human being’s priority list. In fact, it can be placed right up there alongside water and oxygen. Everyone knows about the honeymoon phase, when sex is usually mind-blowing, frequent and you’re having it almost everywhere. Things normally taper off when you’re in a regular relationship. Days get designated as sex days and you normally don’t have sex on those days. Sex therapists often talk about these 7 signs which suggest that a marriage won’t last for very long. Regardless of whether it is a one night stand or a friends with benefits arrangement, singles tend to have a more varied, adventurous sex life than those in long-term committed relationships. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with a more predictable sex life with your life partner – there’s something quite sacred about exploring and expressing one’s sexuality with the person they’ve made a lifetime committment to. But there’s also something to be said about the exciting and unpredictable nature of sex as a singleton.
You get to meet unique people
When you’re single you have the freedom to date different kinds of people than you could ever think of. The entire world becomes a dating pool. Considering the kind of efficient dating apps that are available these days, finding and connecting with people to date has never been easier.
