London Fashion Week came, saw and conquered for yet another season, and we were there to capture all the action. We’ve collated the top 5 noteworthy trends to watch out for this autumn/winter.
1.Natural Hair Stood Front and Centre
It was not only welcoming to see succession of brown beauties rock the runway, but one of the most refreshing elements of LFW was the amount of models wearing their natural tresses. At Starsica models were spotted with their hair brushed into Afro puffs, with sides and edges smoothed using Toni & Guy’s Label M products. Elsewhere, at House of Holland models wore teeny weeny Afros finished with minimal products to give a fuss-free finish.
2. Retro hairstyles were given a revamp!
Finger waves, ’60s inspired bobs, the beehive – these are just some of the classic hairstyles spotted at this year’s autumn/fall shows. Tata Naka’s ready to wear collection was an unabashed homage to the swinging sixties, with psychedelic prints and clashing colours dominating the show. Models wore skyscrapping beehvies, given a modern twist via a softer, looser finish.
3. Big, bold and heavy!
If you’re waiting for the return of svelte, barely there brows you’ll be disappointed because big, bold, bodacious brows are very much here to stay. At Tata Naka thick HD brows framed the face of models, adding dramatic framing to the nude lips and shimmery cheeks that finished the look. At House of Holland brows were Brooke Shields thick, natural and unplucked.
4. Not so mellow, yellow!
One of the most exciting beauty trends to emerge this season was canary yellow eyeshadow. Not for the fainthearted, the shade definitely makes a dramatic beauty statement, and at shows like Kristel Kuslapuu, makeup artists showcased graphic eyeliner complemented with brightly toned eyeshadows like yellow and tangerine, which is perfectly suited to women with dark skin tones.
5. Stark naked beauty
Nude/barely there makeup will be a dominant look in autumn/winter 18, as seen at House of Holland who sent models down the runway with little to no makeup allowing fresh, dewy skin to make the beauty statement.
