It’s official: World Afro Day broke the internet. September marked the inaugural event, which attempted to bring worldwide recognition to the beauty of natural Afro hair. And it did so tenfold. The hashtag #WorldAfroDay went viral gaining 2.51m coverage views in 6 weeks.
The event was also covered on BBC Radio, ITV’s Good Morning Britain and This Morning. It also gained international support from Essence, Yahoo and Harper’s Bazaar, not to mention our very own outlet which covered the movement extensively. Check out the highlights from Church House, Westminster on the day, including the record-setting World Record for the ‘largest hair education lesson’. Congratulations to event founder Michelle De Leon, we wish you further success in 2018.
